University of Toronto — Temerty Faculty of Medicine

The University of Toronto Temerty Faculty of Medicine Alumni Association is committed to ensuring that our website and digital services are accessible to all people, including those with disabilities. We strive to meet or exceed the requirements of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA.

Our Commitment

As part of the University of Toronto community, we are dedicated to creating an inclusive environment that enables all individuals to access and benefit from our alumni services. We recognize that accessibility is an ongoing effort, and we are continually working to improve the user experience for everyone who visits our website.

Accessibility Features

Our website includes the following accessibility features:

  • Semantic HTML: We use proper heading structures, landmarks, and semantic elements to ensure screen readers can navigate our content effectively.
  • Keyboard Navigation: All interactive elements on our site are accessible via keyboard, allowing users to navigate without a mouse.
  • Alternative Text: Images include descriptive alternative text to convey information to users who rely on screen readers.
  • Colour Contrast: We maintain sufficient colour contrast ratios between text and background elements to ensure readability for users with low vision or colour vision deficiencies.
  • Responsive Design: Our website adapts to various screen sizes and devices, including mobile phones, tablets, and desktop computers.
  • Clear Typography: We use readable fonts and appropriate text sizes to improve legibility across all devices.
  • Focus Indicators: Visible focus indicators are provided for interactive elements to assist keyboard users in navigating the site.

AODA Compliance

The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) sets out requirements for organizations in Ontario to identify, remove, and prevent barriers to accessibility. Our website is designed to comply with the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation (IASR) under the AODA, including the requirements for accessible websites and web content.

We regularly review our website against WCAG 2.1 Level AA standards and address any identified issues in a timely manner.
